Revenge and appeasement are both are bad ways of solving a conflict between people because they both can result in negative consequences.
Revenge is trying to get back at someone who has done wrong to another. To start, revenge is one of the more common ways of dealing with a conflict. But this isn't an affective thing to do because when someone takes revenge, then the person they take revenge on most likely will try to get back at them again. Eventually the side who sought revenge will end up being hurt by whom they sought revenge on. Or both sides could continue to take more, and more dramatic actions which in turn, gives both sides negative consequences. In history, revenge can be proven to not be effective. After World War 1, Britain and France were mad at Germany and sought revenge on them for the war. They did so by making them sign The Treaty of Versailles which stated that Germany couldn't have an air force, couldn't have more than 6 ships, couldn't make an alliance with Austria, had to pay off all the war debt, limit their number of troops and where they could go, and take all the blame for causing World War 1. This only made Germany very angry and eventually they got back at Britain and France for doing this by starting World War 2.
Appeasement is also an ineffective strategy for dealing with conflict as well. Appeasement is when a person has done another wrong, but the person does nothing about it. If somebody has done something to wrong someone else, if that person does absolutely nothing about it then there is no reason for the other person to stop doing it. For example, if a girl continuously trips a boy in the hallway, if the boy doesn't do anything about it then the girl will continue to trip him. Reason to back up that this strategy is ineffective is in history. An example could be from after World War 1. Once Britain and France took revenge, then Germany just became angry with them. Once Hitler rose to power, he started to break the agreements from the Treaty of Versailles. Hitler started to build an air force, Britain and France did nothing. Hitler started to build an army over the set amount, Britain and France did nothing. Hitler began to build his navy, and Britain and France did nothing. This continued until almost all agreements from the Treaty Hitler had broken. Next, Hitler started to take over parts of surrounding countries, but Britain and France still didn't do anything but hold a meeting. In this meeting they told Hitler he wasn't suppose to do that, but Hitler said if he could just have this land then he would stop. Britain and France agreed to let him have it but they said if he continued taking territory then they would go to war with him. Hitler took the land they said he could, but plus more. Unfortunately, by the time Britain and France decided to do something about it Germany had a powerful army again and attacked.
In conclusion, these two methods of dealing with conflict have been proven to be unhelpful in present, and from past situations.

Are humans greedy and selfish by nature OR are they naturally good/blank slate?
-I say that humans are greedy by nature but the amounts or how greedy we are vary. Some humans can be much greedier than others depending on how they were raised. People are raised to NOT be greedy but if they are not then they naturally are.
-Mr. Crandell says, im right.

IV. part 1
The 3 greatest internal problems that could lead to the fall of the United States are decline in morals and values, government corruption, and becoming to diverse.
Part 2
1. The first reason the Roman empire fell was because the people were losing their good morals and values. Most of the people just partied all the time and drank until they were sick. The United States is beginning to have this problem because TV shows are showing how people just drink and party all the time (Jersey Shore) and the teenagers who watch it start to think how fun it looks and how they want to be like that.
2. The second greatest reason for the Roman empire falling was that is was too diverse. With how many people the Roman empire controlled the amount of diversity in the people made them harder to rule. In the United States, we are one of the most diverse countries in the world. However, having all these different types of minority groups makes it harder for the government to make laws because the different groups of people all act differently.
3. The last greatest reason for the fall of the Roman empire was the unemployment rate. There were many Roman citizens that were out of work and this is related to the United States however, it is not one of the greatest reasons for decline in the U.S. The unemployment in the U.S. is not the lowest it has ever been but it is still causing many problems for many people.

Fall of the U.S. homework
1-30-13
I think that the United States is on its way to its
downfall. The morals and values of the people in our country are on such low
standards that most people have no respect for each other’s differences. The
environment of our country can be nice in some parts, but in the areas where
many people live the environment is dangerous and unhealthy. There are gangs
and drugs making the streets unsafe and unhealthy for people to be around. Some
of the places in the U.S. have a very high unemployment rate. Urban decay is a
problem in some places around the country but not all. The amount of diversity
in our country could be looked at as a negative a or a positive. The negative
of having so many different types of people is that they all have a different
culture and belief. They all have a different way that they act, and it makes
it harder to control them all effectively. The positive would be that so many
people fit in here and we have a little of everything in our country that we
can share with each other. Our technology on the other hand is anything but
inferior to the other countries. Also
the political corruption is not a problem very much in the United States. Many
things about the United States leaves me to believe it is going to fall, but
the few things our country does have will most likely (in my opinion) keep it
standing tall for the next few decades to come. Our country is coming to its
downfall, but slowly.
